7 Foxtrot offers two Beginner Handgun courses and are tailored for the beginner handgun owner or prospective owner.

Beginner Handgun Orientation and Basic Handgun Fundamentals

Beginner Handgun Orientation (BHO)

BHO is developed to meet the need for a firearms orientation for new gun purchasers. This is the Basic Handgun Fundamentals Course abbreviated to the most fundamental shooting skills, and the specifics of a particular action (revolver or semi-automatic) of handgun.

This course, because of its narrow focus, can be completed as quickly as three hours. Students will get quick practical lessons on the safe use, cleaning, and storage of their handgun.

Course Completion:

Students will receive feedback on the live-fire exercise.

- Intro to Ammunition
- Intro to Handgun Shooting Fundamentals
- Intro to Handgun Cleaning

Required gear:

- Note taking material
- Wrap around Eye Protection
- Ear protection (electronic preferred)

- Seasonal weather gear/rain gear

Notes:

  1. Ensure that the pistol and the magazines (if a semi-auto) are not loaded.
  2. DO NOT BRING AMMUNITION INTO THE CLASSROOM!

Basic Handgun Fundamentals Course (BHF)

BHF is a beginner handgun course that is for someone who has little or no experience with a handgun.  It teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and operating a handgun safely.

The course is 6-8 hours long and includes classroom and range.  Students learn to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic handgun along with the learning the rules for safe gun handling; handgun parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from a seated supported and two handed standing positions; and cleaning the pistol.

Course Completion:

Students will receive feedback on the live-fire exercise and a course certificate upon successful completion of the lessons.
